2016 PGL Golf Competition

A glorious 1st of June heralded the annual PGL Golf Competition held as always at Douglas Park Golf Club, Bearsden.

A total of 33 golfers turned out for the competition, organised by Bros Billy Cairns (Chairman) and Jim Anderson (Secretary), both of Lodge Cadder Argyle 147. There were no weather related excuses this year, with one of the finest days experienced for the competition in recent years.

The usual good-natured rivalry between Lodges and individuals was the order of the day, with everyone playing their very best. A close-run competition generally ensued, with the players learning of their fate once the scorecards were tallied and the reckoning was done. The results were: Claude Hamilton Trophy: Lodge Bearsden 1572, Bros I. Lister, G. Kerr and M. White on 129 Hugh T. McNab Trophy: Winner A. Wylie (147) on 68, runner-up P. Leslie (39) on 69 1st Class: Winner G. Findlay (147) on 70, runner-up I. Matthews (321) on 71. 2nd Class: Winner G. Kerr (195) on 70 BIH, runner-up J. McDonald (321) on 70. Bros Cairns and Anderson thanked the players for their participation and support, and the support of the members of PGL who turned out on the day, Bros John F. Herrick, Jim Forrest, David Irving and of course the Provincial Grand Master, Bro. John R. McCormack. The PGM then made suitable reply, thanking the organisers, golfers and supporters alike, inviting everyone to participate again next year. An excellent day all round.
